Apple iPhone 7 release date, specs news: Flagship smartphone to get 32 GB base unit?

It has already been reported by numerous publications online that the seventh iteration of the iconic Apple iPhone will be released later this year. Although nothing is set in stone as of the moment, Apple is said to be addressing the most common complaints from consumers – the insufficient storage capacity.
Apparently, fans are not happy with the 16 GB storage of the iPhone's base model and they are hoping that the company will do something about it. Tech observers are saying that the 16 GB base unit of the new iPhone could no longer compete with other smartphone's in the market today. There are reports suggesting that Apple may upgrade the base unit of its flagship handset from 16 GB to 32 GB.
According to tech analyst Kevin Wang, the company is certainly considering the idea of upgrading the storage capacity of their iPhone's base unit. Apple followers noted Wang's accurate predictions in the past, which give them reasons to believe that the new speculation could be true.
In a previous interview with Apple's Phil Schiller, the executive did not see any reason to upgrade the storage capacity of their 16 GB iPhones.
"The belief is more and more as we use iCloud services for documents and our photos and videos and music," Schiller explained, "that perhaps the most price-conscious customers are able to live in an environment where they don't need gobs of local storage because these services are lightening the load."
Schiller also said that the company saves a whole lot of money by staying at 16 GB storage, which they could use to spend more on other features of the device.
Meanwhile, new rumors have emerged that Apple may release an iPhone with a 256-GB storage capacity. Although this has yet to be confirmed by the company, it will be interesting how consumers will receive it once this variant hits the market.
