Android 5.0 Lollipop Update on Sony Xperia Z3, Z2 Release Date Arriving Soon

Good news for Xperia Z3 and Z2 users! The much-awaited over-the-air update release for Android 5.0 is coming to your phones soon, a popular network carrier has confirmed.
An arm of Vodaphone in Australia revealed on Thursday that the Android 5.0 Lollipop software is up for testing on Sony Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2.
The company is certain to officially roll out the new Google mobile OS update by the end of February in the Oceania region, the International Business Times said, citing Xperia Blog.
"If history is taken any indication, mass roll-out of the OS update in other corners of the world will follow soon," it added.
In the company's weekly software update news archive, Vodafone also stated that it has already begun conducting the test run of HTC One M8 on 5.0 Lollipop.
However, the network carrier refrained from revealing any particular timeline of the release for the particular HTC handset.
The carrier has not yet received the final build from Google for Android 5.0 and so they cannot yet start testing it for their devices, the Android Community explained.
Taking cue from this schedule, Android lovers can probably expect the update to reach the branded carrier handsets sometime in March.
"The generic smartphones, or those that are not under any carrier, may be able to receive the Lollipop roll-out a little earlier than that, since the stock firmware won't go through carrier testing anymore," the Android Community said.
The other devices shown in the document include the HTC One M8, which has already been seeding in India and some European countries. The Huwaei WiFi Cube 4G says that testing is already in progress, but of course, since it's not a smartphone, it won't be receiving a Lollipop update.
The IBT also noted that Google's new mobile OS will come with a completely fresh new design language called "Material Design."
This new feature will bring a new interactive user interface and offer lots of animation graphics. Its default runtime will bring improvement in performance and battery-life enhancements, IBT said.
In a related development, American network carrier Sprint has begun rolling out Android 5.0 model since Thursday.
Besides its usual Lollipop feature, the model is said to get an enhanced VoWiFi UI while the bloatware Lumen toolbar has been removed.
