Android 5.0 Lollipop Update on Samsung Galaxy S5 Release Date: Verizon Devices Receive Update – Again

Verizon has rolled out a new and improved version of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to users of the Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone on its network.
About two months ago, Verizon started rolling out the update to the Galaxy S5, even without an official announcement. However the roll-out was discontinued due to user issues with the new OS on the device.
Now, it's official, with the announcement as follows: "Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce an operating system update to Android 5.0 Lollipop. This version brings Android beyond smartphones and tablets, allowing access to apps and Android services on other connected screens like TV's, cars and wearables. The new material design offers complex animations, 3-D views and improved runtime."
It seems that the earlier issues encountered by users have been addressed.
Now, all the major carriers in the U.S. – Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile , with the exception of AT&T – have officially released the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to Samsung's flagship smartphones. AT&T recently acknowledged that the update for the device on its network should be arriving soon. While it has released the update for the Galaxy Note 3 and 4, and the HTC One M7, it hasn't made good yet on its promise for an S5 update.
Samsung is preparing to release the highly anticipated Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. These new flagship handsets are already receiving pre-orders on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and US Cellular. Verizon started taking pre-orders on April 1, which was just right in terms of the timing of their release of the upgrade to the S5. Verizon is now accepting pre-orders for both the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge and is offering the handsets in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB options.
Samsung has already proclaimed that the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are huge hits, due to the record number of pre-orders it has received for both smartphones. A company representative recently told The Korea Times that, "Samsung received some 20 million pre-orders for the S6 and S6 Edge - 15 million of S6 and five million of the S6 Edge from mobile carriers, worldwide. This is the record."
