Android 5.0 L Update Release Date: Coming October 23, 2014 With Nexus 6 and Nexus 9?

Android 5.0 L is rumored to be the largest Android update since the OS was first released by Google. While Google has not made an official announcement of the launch date, speculation is rife that the Nexus 6 and 9 will feature Android 5.0 L, the "L" being short for Lollipop or Lemon Meringue Pie.
AndroidPit speculates that the release date of the new Android OS will be October 23<sup>rd and it will be released along with the Nexus 6 and 9.
They also add that Google has published a new version of Chrome for Android devices. In the screen shots of the beta version of Chrome, 2:30 is mentioned. This AndroidPit speculates refers to the date 23<sup>rd October. Which would mean the Android 5.0 L will be coming out soon after the launch of the Apple's new iPad that is set to debut on October 16<sup>th.
The Fuse Joplin notes, that some users have been concerned that they will not be able to update the OS on their Android devices to the new Android 5.0 L. This was fuelled by the happenings in the Google I/O event where preview builds of Android L were on the Nexus 7, which was released in 2013 and Nexus 5. Subsequently their fears were put to rest in June, when Google released the Android 5.0 L source code for preview on all Nexus devices released in 2012.
Listing the devices that are sure to receive the Android 5.0 L OS, The Fuse Joplin notes the 8.9 inch Nexus 5 tablet will be one among them. Also on the list are the Nexus 7 which was released in 2013 and the Nexus 10. As for the features of the Android 5.0 L, TechRadar is reporting that the notification panel will be merged with the lock screen and you will only see important information about apps on it.
