'American Idol' 2015 Elimination, Results Latest News: Final 8 Guys Recap as Savion Wright Eliminated

On "American Idol" Season 14 on Wednesday night, it was Motown Classics time for the Top 12 Guys at Filmore, Detroit, where they performed songs by Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and other Motown greats.
At night's end, eliminated were Michael Simeon, Riley Bria, Trevor Douglas, and – surprise, surprise – Savion Wright! What was disheartening was that Wright and even Bria appeared to be better than some, or even a lot, of the ones who got into the Top 8.
But that is how it is, when fan voting is the basis for choosing who gets through and who doesn't.
Let's take a look at who finally made the Top 8 Guys list:
Daniel Seavey sang Marvin Gaye's "How Sweet It is (To Be Loved By You)." Harry commented about Seavey's lack of rhythmic urgency in his deliver, J. Lo said, "You're gonna be a favorite around here," and Keith said, "All you need is to just keep doing this!" Compared to some of the other contestants who were eliminated, Seavey seemed to have underperformed. The critics said he could be the next to get eliminated. On the plus side, his age, his charm and his genuine talent could make for a lot of votes.
Mark Andrew sang The Temptations' "Papa Was a Rolling Stone." It was a so-so performance, mostly in tune to an arrangement that was reminiscent of Dave Matthews. Critics said it was a little better than Seavey's, but just a bit.
Rayvon Own sang The Temptations' "My Girl." Own beautifully sang the tune, delivering one of the finest vocal moments in the last couple of years in "Idol." The judges commented though that he should try to be a little more dark and sexy at times, to counteract his normally happy performances. He could turn out to be a dark horse in this competition.
Adam Ezegelian performed The Jackson 5's "I Want You Back." Ezegelian gave the song a more "rock feel," but critics said he does need to rein in the wild-and-crazy expressions as these make him feel more of a novelty act than an honest-to-goodness rock star.
Clark Beckham sang The Miracles' "The Tracks of My Tears." Again, he sang the song with a different arrangement, which was deemed a bit risky. J Lo said it needed a little more heart and little less head. Beckham had been a front-runner during Hollywood week, but maybe he is more comfortable when he sings playing the piano.
Nick Fradiani sang Stevie Wonder's "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours." Almost assured of a Top 10 slot, Fradiani sang a tune that was deemed technically lovely, especially the acoustic portion.
Qaasim Middleton performed Stevie Wonder's "I Wish." It was a show-stealing performance that made people cheer and watch. J Lo though commented that Middleton should remind everyone that he has the vocal chops to back up his showmanship.
Quentin Alexander sang Stevie Wonder's "Master Blaster (Jammin'). This was probably the best performance of the night. Alexander is considered a potential shoo-in to get into the Top 5 and even win this season.
Fearless forecast for the eliminations next week: Seaver and Andrew should be the ones to go home, but voting-wise, it could be Own and Ezegelian.
