'American Horror Story' season 6 spoilers: Shelby and Matt ignore Cricket's advice to leave in episode 4; Series creators hint game-changing twist in episode 6

After a crazy week on "American Horror Story," things will begin to get worse in the upcoming episode of the hit FX franchise's sixth season.
The FX anthology thriller finally broke the fourth wall of My Roanoke Nightmare, and viewers are in for a crazier ride as it deepens in next Wednesday's episode. Based on the latest teaser released by the network, the members of the Lost Colony will begin to get more agitated, while Shelby and Matt continue to become more terrified in their own home.
"I know what I saw. It was real," Shelby said in the first moments of episode 4 sneak peak. Shelby and Matt decided to ignore Cricket's advice to leave their property, leading the ghosts to be more distressed. At some point in the clip, Shelby calls Matt on his ghost-hunting escapade and attempting to do the "Croatoan" spell. Back in episode 3, Cricket used the word to successfully drive away The Butcher from the seance. "Croatoan" was also the only term uttered by the lost boys Lee, Shelby and Matt discovered early on.
FX marketing boss Stephanie Gibbons recently caught up with The Hollywood Reporter, and she assured fans that there will be no bait and switch in season 6. After the premiere, the audience already knows what the theme is. However, Gibbons also mentioned that it doesn't mean that they will know much else about the entire season. "As we've seen with other seasons, much lies ahead," she stated. "You know more when you've read the first chapter, but it's far from the end of the book... It's one twisty-turny season."
Additionally, the series creators revealed that viewers should look forward to a game-changing twist in episode 6. "You'll see starting in episode 6, the show has a huge turn and the thing that you think you're watching is not what you're watching," co-creator Ryan Murphy told Entertainment Weekly. Co-creator Brad Falchuk also promised that the said episode will surprise viewers. "No matter what you think it is, it's not that. Then, episode 6 comes and you're like, 'Wait! What happened?'" he said.
The sixth season of "American Horror Story" airs every Wednesday night at 10 p.m. EST on FX.
