FX Network deliberately created fake trailers for the sixth season of the hit anthology TV series "American Horror Story." The showrunners had no intention of announcing this season's theme so they asked their marketing team to create multiple trailers to confuse avid viewers. However, a recent slip-up might have revealed the theme for season 6.

The teasers released so far were mostly based on popular horror films — "Children of the Corn," "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and "The Conjuring," to name a few.

"Baby Face" is the 23rd trailer to be released by FX Network. It featured eerie background music, a haunting vocal chorus and a morbidly terrifying doll. Entertainment Weekly pointed out that "Baby Face" had similar graphics with the latest trailer, number 24, which showed a man dragging himself out of the water as his leg was devoured by a black substance.

Sarah Paulson, who portrayed Sally McKenna and Billie Dean Howard in season 5, shared another poster for the forthcoming season on Twitter. This advertisement was also displayed on the side of a bus. It showed a lady in period clothing, praying with a rosary made out of teeth.

In the summer press tour of Television Critics' Association, FX CEO John Landgraf revealed that a lot of the trailers are true but a good number of them are meant to mislead.

Furthermore, a recent slip-up might have might have accidentally confirmed the season's theme. Rotten Tomatoes reportedly shared a TV Guide that had "American Horror Story: The Mist" listed on it. Reports said the post has been deleted from the site. However, fans of the show were quick enough to capture the information and share it with the rest of the fan base.

The sixth season of "American Horror Story" will premiere on FX Network on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 10 p.m. EDT.
