'American Horror Story' Season 5 Release Date: FX Series Renewed for 2015 New Season

After setting a ratings record for FX with its Season 4 premiere attracting 10 million viewers on Oct. 8, "American Horror Story" will be back for its fifth season in October 2015.
Season 5 will comprise of 13 episodes, according to John Landgraf, CEO, FX Networks and FX Productions.
FX is hoping that the show will continue to be its most watched.
The cast for the next season has not been announced yet. Rumors are circulating that the current season, "American Horror Story: Freak Show," could be the last for Jessica Lange. She had previously announced that Season 4 could be her last, and that she would not be playing any other role on the show. The Emmy award winner currently plays the role of Elsa Mars.
Ryan Murphy, the producer of the hit FX series, disclosed to E!Online that he has been trying to convince Lange to stay onboard for Season 5. "Earlier I was told a quick 'no' and now she says, 'Let's keep talking," which is a promising sign," Murphy says.
He believes that if he gives Lange the right character to play, she could be persuaded to stay on.
"American Horror Story" looks set to keep breaking records with every new season that airs. In the current season, it overtook "Sons of Anarchy," which previously held the record for the most watched show on FX, by pulling in 10 million viewers over three days. The viewers numbered 6.54 million in the18-49 age group and 4.08 million in the18-34 age group.
Over its four-season run, each season did better than the last. Since it started, the show's viewership has taken a 148 percent jump. In the coveted adults under the age of 50 demographic, the show saw a growth of 119 percent.
