American Horror Story Freak Show Spoilers: Plot Ties New Season and Old Season Together

"American Horror Story: Freak Show" saw a major development in its recent episode last Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 10 p.m. on FX.

The current season of the anthology show was tied together with the second season's "American Horror Story: Asylum." There was also a time jump at the end that revealed that Elsa Mars (Jessica Lange) was a big TV star.

The episode started with the death of Salty (Christopher Neiman) as a result of a stroke. Stanley (Denis O'Hare) then chopped off Salty's head and placed it with the other freaks' bodies in the freak show museum. After this, Desiree (Angela Bassett) tried to cheer up Pepper (Naomi Grossman) but she freaked out which led to a brief background on Pepper's past. It was revealed that Elsa had picked Pepper up at an orphanage where she had been abandoned by her sister.

More of Pepper's back story at the Freak Show was shown, including how she met Ma Petite (Jyoti Amge) and grew attached to her and finally landed up with Salty as her mate. As for the other characters, it was revealed that Jimmy (Evan Peters) cut of his hands while in jail and gave them to Stanley so that he could afford a lawyer.

Maggie (Emma Roberts) then told Desiree after the later threatened her that she and Stanley were not actually freaks but were there to sell the bodies of the freaks to the museum.

Elsa then dropped a depressed Pepper off with her sister Rita (Mare Winningham). Rita along with her husband then killed their deformed son and blamed it on Pepper.

This incident resulted in Pepper being placed in the Briarcliff Asylum where Sister Mary Eunice (Lily Rabe) treated her kindly. It was in this place 10 years ago when Pepper was shown looking at a copy of Life magazine which referred to Elsa Mars on its cover as a TV star.
