'American Crime' season 3 spoilers, cast news 2016: Richard Cabral joins, show receives 4 Emmy nominations
Critically-acclaimed crime drama "American Crime" will air its third season on ABC next year, and another familiar face hops on board with lead actress Regina King as part of the cast. Actor Richard Cabral has been confirmed to be the latest addition for season 3 as a series regular to portray a yet-to-be-announced character.

Felicity Huffman, who was a part of the show's first two seasons, will also have a role in the upcoming season. Timothy Hutton has not yet renewed his contract but he will reportedly return as well.
Plot details for season 3 are still being kept under wraps, but the story will generally focus on "labor issues, economic divides and individual rights." North Carolina is the new setting, although production has been moved from Texas to Los Angeles after the series was awarded a California tax credit.
The anthology series continues to get better each year and as a testament to its success, the crime drama has been recently nominated for four Emmy Awards. One of those nominations is for Regina King's outstanding performance which did not come as a surprise since she already won three Emmy awards in her career.
King caught up with Entertainment Weekly earlier this week and even though she can't say anything about the new season of "American Crime," the actress shared what motivates her to keep coming back after three years of being in the show's ensemble cast. According to her, giving life to a different character each season and working with a great acting crew keeps her driven. She added that working with people who are serious about their craft inspires her as an actress. "... when you know that's the team you're coming back to, that's the group, the company that you're coming back to, it just makes you excited to come to play," she said.
The third season of "American Crime" is expected to have a midseason premiere next year on ABC.
