Tech company Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is expected to launch its upcoming Zen Summit Ridge lineup by the first quarter of 2017. Furthermore, the processor chips will have three different variants — SR3, SR5 and SR7. In addition, many speculate that AMD will unveil the new line of processor chips on Jan. 2017 during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

During AMD's recent earnings call, AMD CEO Lisa Su shared that a big volume of AMD Zen Summit Ridge processors will be ready by next year's first quarter.

Although the specs details of the upcoming processor chip are still not verified, tech experts noted that it may rival Intel's Core i7-6850K or the i7-7700K — the leading chipsets in the current market.

Several leaked information also revealed that the basic SR3 chip features 4 cores and 8 threads and will cost at least $150. The mid-variant, SR5, which is said to have 6 cores and 12 threads, is priced at $250, while the higher end variant, SR7, costs $350 with 8 cores and a 16-thread configuration. As these are supposedly leaked, the information here still needs to be verified by AMD or its representative.

In addition, optimized clock speed for the SR3 is around 3.15–3.30 GHz, while the SR7 variant has a clock speed of 4.2 GHz to 5 GHz.

In other news, AMD is also set to release motherboard chipsets for the AM4 platform, which also comes in three different variants: A320, B350 and X370. The highest variant, X370, will support enhanced overclocking and sports two x16 motherboard slots for AMD CrossFire and NVIDIA SLI multi-GPU configurations.

As for anticipating fans or gamers, it is advised to wait for further confirmation from AMD as most of these are still speculations and the Zen Summit Ridge chip might have different specs, price and features upon its official release.
