AMD Vega 10, 11 release date, news, specs rumors: New GPUs based on Vega architecture coming early 2017?

AMD has been successful in releasing the Radeon graphics cards based on the latest Polaris architecture this year. Although the lineup of specs and features of the Radeon RX video cards is impressive, the Polaris GPUs have more reasonable price compared to its competitors, most notably the NVIDIA Pascal graphics cards. According to the latest rumors, AMD will be stepping up their game with the release of a more powerful, and possibly quite expensive, new GPUs based on Vega architecture.

As reported by Fudzilla, AMD is expected to release at least two new graphics cards by the start of 2017. Specifically, AMD will be unveiling the Vega 10 and Vega 11 GPUs early next year, which will be replacing the present Polaris 10 and Polaris 11 GPUs in the market.

The development of the new Vega graphics cards is expected to be taking place as of writing, with a target release date in Q1 2017.

WCCF Tech reported that the Vega 10 GPU will be sporting an improved GCN design that will allow faster graphics card processing and better GPU efficiency. It is expected to be more impressive than the current Polaris version. It will be using the latest HBM2 standard, allowing a huge amount of bandwidth delivery with higher vRAM capacity. Comparing the Vega 10 with the previous Polaris video cards with lower HBM1 standard and GDDR5 memory, the former will feature lower power consumption.

The Vega 11 GPUs are powerful graphics cards will be equipped with AMD's High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) technology that can outmatch the GDDR5X technology of NVIDIA, Yibada reported. In general, the Vega 10 and 11 GPUs are expected to have at least 4096 cores with a minimum of 128 compute units.

The upcoming Vega 10 and Vega 11 are expected to rival NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 1070 and 1080, which were all released this year. It has yet to be known if the latest Vega configuration will be enough to outclass NVIDIA's powerful Pascal technology. Nevertheless, the inclusion of new Vega GPUs will give the people more choices for the best possible graphics quality.
