Alan Robertson, Wife Lisa Robertson Reveal Marriage Struggles In New Book

Alan Robertson and Lisa Robertson, two members of the "Duck Dynasty" clan, recently revealed personal details about their marriage struggles in their newly-released book A New Season: A Robertson Family Love Story of Brokenness and Redemption.

In the book, the couple details their tumultuous marriage, from Alan's abuse of drugs and alcohol to Lisa's decision to have an affair with an old boyfriend that almost destroyed the couple's marriage.

Both Lisa and Alan, who is a pastor, told Us Weekly in a recent interview why they chose to get so personal in their new book.

"We wanted to write our story, and [my past] has everything to do with our story. We just wanted to put it out there — the good, the bad, the ugly, but also what God has healed us from and brought us through," Lisa Robertson told the media outlet.

Alan added that he believes the couple's trials and tribulations make "our story even more compelling to realize everything that affected us and our relationship really started way back, before Lisa and I ever met, when she was a girl and I was a boy."

The book also explores the abortion Lisa had when she was 17, a procedure she says she now regrets.

"I could have had three children and I messed that up," Lisa says in the book. "There has not been — maybe a day has gone by — that I have not thought of this child. … at the time it was the answer that I sought. As I sit here today that is not the answer I would have chosen had I known better, had I been more mature in my thinking."
