Alabama Pastor Admits To Having AIDS, Having Sex With Female Congregants
In an announcement that has rocked the community of Montgomery, Alabama, a pastor has admitted to testing positive for AIDS and having sex with members of his congregation while having knowledge of his disease.
Juan Demetrius McFarland, former pastor of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, reportedly admitted to his congregation in mid-September that he was diagnosed with AIDS in 2008. Despite knowing of his infectious Sexually Transmitted Disease, McFarland reportedly had sex with multiple women in his congregation this past year.
Although the congregation was reportedly supportive of McFarland when he first admitted his diagnosis back in September, it became more weary as more admissions were made by its lead pastor. The pastor also admitted to drug use and misusing church funds. He then confirmed all his transgressions to the local WSFA-TV media outlet.
"He concealed from the church that he had knowingly engaged in adultery in the church building with female members of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church while knowingly having AIDS," Nathan Williams Jr., a member at the church for over 70 years, told WSFA-TV.
Congregants are now reportedly in a battle with McFarland over the church property. The disgraced pastor recently changed the locks on the building, and congregants say they are fighting to get their church back.
Tensions grew so high recently that police were reportedly called to remove McFarland from the church after he got in a verbal disagreement with members of the congregation. Police reportedly did not remove anyone from the church when the fight broke out.
