Adrian Peterson's Relationship With Minnesota Vikings 'Severed'
Reports indicate that running back Adrian Peterson's relationship with his NFL team, the Minnesota Vikings, has reportedly been "severed" due to his recent charges of child abuse.
ESPN's John Clayton said in an interview Wednesday with "The Fast Lane" that although Peterson is still technically on the Minnesota Vikings roster, his professional relationship with the Midwest NFL team is most likely over.
"Severed. I mean, no question," Clayton said Wednesday on the ESPN-sponsored radio show. "I don't see him ever playing in Minnesota again. I think that's sad because I think that he has been the franchise. He has carried that franchise. It's not that they've turned on him, but I think when you see that the case now is going to be December 1st, I believe […] that means he's not going to be back until December."
"They'll let him back if he gets his case resolved, but even if he gets his case resolved by, let's say […] it's a 2-3 day thing […] by Dec. 4, I think they're gonna' part ways."
Peterson's first arraignment on child abuse charges in Montgomery, Texas hit a snag on Wednesday when the prosecution team requested the judge be recused from the case after he referred to the lawyers in the case as "media whores" in an interview.
The NFL running back is expected to plead not guilty, and his court date may be postposed to as late as December if a new judge is put on the case.
