'A Series of Unfortunate Events' release date, latest news: Netflix launches new 'frightful' teaser for upcoming series

With a little over a week left before the debut of Netflix's new show, "A Series of Unfortunate Events," another promotional teaser to promote the upcoming online series has recently been released as fans wait for its launch.
"Be a dear, and look away," Patrick Warburton's Lemony Snicket tells viewers in the new 30-second trailer, warning them of the "distributed plots, villainous frightful deeds and an absurd amount of childhood endangerment" that will be inflicted upon the poor Baudelaire orphans, which will be featured in the upcoming Netflix series.
Based on the children's books written by Lemony Snicket (pseudonym of series author Daniel Handler), the Netflix version of "A Series of Unfortunate Events" will be following the unlucky lives of the three Baudelaire orphans, who are going to be put under the care of their somewhat villainous relative, Count Olaf (portrayed by Neil Patrick Harris).
The series will be directed in part by Barry Sonnenfeld, and Handler wrote most of the episodes for the upcoming season. It also stars Malina Weissman, Presley Smith, Louis Hynes, Joan Cusack, K. Todd Freeman, Catherine O'Hara, Aasif Mandvi, Don Johnson, and Alfre Woodward.
According to We Got This Covered, the first season of the series will be based on the first four books in the 13-part novel series.
If the show is proven to be a commercial success, it is expected that a second season will be ordered, and its story will most likely cover the plot of the next few novels in the book series.
As reported by Screen Crush, "A Series of Unfortunate Events" is a widely known novel series, having sold countless copies worldwide and even spawning a live-action movie adaptation starring Jim Carrey back in 2004. The book series also managed to sell a great deal of merchandise over the years, spanning from board games to albums.
The upcoming live-action adaptation of "A Series of Unfortunate Events" is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on Jan. 13.
