Three fourth graders allegedly planned to kill their teacher using anti-bacterial hand sanitizer.

The incident happened at Elba Central School in Elba, Genesee County in New York last December. The plan was foiled when a fellow student told her parents about the plan, who, in turn, informed the school board.

The teacher is allergic to hand sanitizer that she banned the product in her classroom. The students allegedly planned to spread the product in the classroom.

"The suspects made comments to other students that they were going to kill [the teacher] by putting antibacterial products around the classroom," according to a report provided by Genesee County Sheriff's Department, to WGRZ.com.

In a statement released on its website, the Elba Central School District said, "This event has been a shock to our community and school."

It said they cannot comment on the specifics of the case because the information is protected under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.

It said that when it learned "of the students' discussion it called in students that were thought to have knowledge of the discussions." After talking to the students, the District called the Sheriff's Department and cooperated in the investigation.

"The Sheriff's Department concluded that no crime had been committed and the matter was turned back over to the District," the statement said.

The District said it worked with the parents and students involved in the case to discuss the issue.

"It is important to note that no one was injured or actually placed in harm's way," it said.

The District said the incident will be used to educate students on proper behavior.

"The District does not condone any of the behaviors that have been reported and is in the process of working alongside the Sheriff's Department to use this incident as a vehicle for educating the District's students regarding appropriate behaviors," it said.
