2018 Toyota Camry release date, specs news: Sedan teased prior to global debut at 2017 Detroit Auto Show

Toyota has released an image of the 2018 Camry teasing its design and features. The all-new eye-catching sedan is expected to make its global debut at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit in January 2017.
The teaser image only shows a close-up shot of the rear corner of the 2018 Camry. However, the preview image still does a nice job of ramping up the anticipation for the next-generation sedan.
According to Car and Driver, the all-new Camry features a striking LED taillight design that is seamlessly integrated into the overall aesthetics of the vehicle. The lighting element also extends up to the bumper. There is also an aggressive fender vent, an XSE badge, a rear spoiler, and an interesting C-pillar crease.
The 2018 Camry is expected to be built using the new Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) modular platform that was also used for the Prius hybrid and the C-HR crossover. The use of this platform will translate to a wider and lower stance. A better driving experience and more comfortable interiors are also expected.
While not a lot of details about the newest Camry have been revealed, senior vice president of automotive operations at Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A., Bob Carter, did tease the upcoming sedan.
"The first time that I had the opportunity to see and drive this vehicle, this was a Camry that sent chills up my back," he said.
To witness the unveiling of the 2018 Toyota Camry, be sure to catch its presentation at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show on Monday, Jan. 9, 2017 at 10 a.m. EST. The event will be streamed live here. In the meantime, more teasers are expected in the months leading up to the official reveal.
Following its introduction, the 2018 Toyota Camry is expected to arrive at deals sometime in the third quarter of 2017.
