Prince William and his wife Catherine concluded their three-day tour of the U.S. on Tuesday with a fundraiser to benefit St. Andrews University. While the couple spent much time in New York, William flew briefly to Washington to meet with President Obama.

The royal couple arrived in New York on Sunday, Dec. 7, and checked in at the upscale Carlyle Hotel, which once played host to the late Princess Diana. Then they attended a private fundraising dinner hosted by Sir Martin Sorrell.

Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, then went on a solo tour on Monday morning when she went to the Northside Center for Child Development in Harlem. Accompanying her was New York City's First Lady, Chirlane McCray.

Meanwhile Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, flew to Washington where he had a meeting with President Obama and Vice President Biden. He also visited the World Bank to discuss with officials how to tackle illegal wildlife trafficking.

Following that the royal couple met Hillary and Chelsea Clinton at a reception that was held at the residence of the British Consul General in New York City.

Most of the buzz around their visit was generated when the couple watched a basketball game between the Nets and the Cavaliers in Brooklyn. During that visit, Beyoncé and her husband Jay Z, who were also present, met the royal couple and exchanged pleasantries. Many were surprised that Beyoncé and Jay Z did not sit next to the royal couple but occupied courtside seats on the opposite end.

LeBron James then presented the couple with cupcakes and two Cavaliers jerseys, including one for their son Prince George.

The next day Kate and William visited the Sept. 11 Memorial Museum and the Memorial Reflection Pools at Ground Zero in New York. Their last engagement was the fundraising gala which was held to benefit St. Andrews University, the couple's alma mater.
