Church to bomb ISIS-controlled Iraq with drone-delivered bibles

A Swedish church unveiled their plans of using drones to drop thousands of small electronic bibles on Iraqi areas controlled by the Islamic State terrorist group.

The Livets Ord or Word of Life church in Uppsala, one of Sweden's largest evangelical free churches, revealed that it wants to reach out to the victims of war by flying drones in the Middle Eastern country.

"Our ambition is to pass on the hope and love of the Christian gospel to a population living in closed areas where they are being denied human rights," it said on its website.

Apparently, the church decided that drones would be useful in carrying out this ambition.

"The bibles are the size of pill boxes and have a display. They require no electricity, but work on their own," Christian Ã…kerhielm, the congregation's mission director, told broadcaster SVT, as reported by newspaper The Local.

The church also revealed that it would be working with another unnamed organization in order to complete the mission on the ground.

"We start our project in a few weeks and hope to drop thousands of bibles," the church said.

The organization recently held the Europe Conference 2016 on July 24 to 31 and hosts a week-long travel tour to Israel, which it considers "the most important place in your life."

Senior Pastor Joakim Lundqvist referred to Word of Life as "more than a church building" intent on spreading the Gospel across the world while Ã…kerhielm considered The Great Commission as "of highest priority, we sense its urgency and therefore reach out into many countries and cultures across the world."

Minority Rights Group reported last month that the Christian population in Iraq drastically dropped from 1.4 million in 2003 to under 250,000 today. The Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS or Daesh) militant group captured most parts of Iraq and Syria in 2014 where the group established its self-proclaimed Caliphate. The extremists waged a religious war against all unbelievers of Islam and vowed to kill all apostates.
