'The Flash' season 3 release date, spoilers news: Flashpoint erases Barry's memories of original timeline; Tom Felton's character to intimidate Barry
Barry Allen's (Grant Gustin) fateful decision to change the past will have more impact than he ever imagined in "The Flash" season 3.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gustin revealed that Barry's memories will be substituted with ones in line with the current timeline he is in. This is apparently part of the consequences of messing with time.
"He's starting to have new memories of graduating high school and college, memories he never had with his parents, but those memories are replacing other things from the other timeline," Gustin teased.
The longer he stays in that timeline, the more memories from the original timeline being replaced. However, in "The Flash" season 3, Barry won't focus on that as he is on cloud-nine with both his parents alive.
However, at some point in "The Flash" season 3, Barry will come to his senses and realize what he did and he will have to accept the fact that nothing is the same as it was before.
Of course, there will be a way to return and he might need the assistance of his nemesis Eobard Thawne also known as the Reverse Flash (Matt Letscher) to be able to go back.
"Eobard never misses an opportunity to taunt Barry. However, Eobard is central to the overall problem of 'Flashpoint' and Barry needs him," Letscher told TVLine.
He also teased that despite things are going well for Barry at the outset, he is actually "in trouble."
Meanwhile, the new timeline – being dubbed as Flashpoint – has also resulted to the surfacing of CSI expert Julian Dorn (Tom Felton), who knows that Barry is keeping a big secret and deems himself as smart as him.
"Barry's not used to having a mind as sharp as his around. Julian also has a smug air of superiority over Barry. So it lends itself to many different choices and many different storylines," Felton told ComicBook.com.
"It's not really worth speculating because I'm sure the writers have something much cooler in mind," he further teased, being coy about his role. Felton will be series regular in "The Flash" season 3.
According to reports, Julian will eventually become Doctor Alchemy, who in the comics, also moonlighted as a forensics expert.
"The Flash" season 3 will premiere on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
