'Teen Wolf' season 6 spoilers, plot news: Dylan O'Brien featured in season 6 photos; Tyler Posey talks leaving Beacon Hills
Dylan O'Brien will be in "Teen Wolf" season 6.
In a new season 6 photo published by Entertainment Weekly on Friday, July 15, O'Brien is back as Stiles Stilinski, Scott McCall's (Tyler Posey) witty human best friend in MTV's popular teen horror/drama.
EW's photo of O'Brien is one of the actor filming a scene for season 6 in what appears to be a school hallway. In the photo, the actor's hand appears to be in some sort of cast.
O'Brien's return to the MTV series was put in question after he sustained injuries during the filming of "The Maze Runner: The Death Cure" earlier this year. While production for "The Death Cure" has been pushed back, "Teen Wolf" fans had been hoping that the actor's condition would not prevent him from appearing in season 6.
It now appears that fans need not worry, as "Teen Wolf" showrunner Jeff Davis has just confirmed that Stiles will be playing a more prominent role than ever in the upcoming season.
In an interview with EW, Davis said that much of season 6's mystery revolves around the character.
"We're going to see just what Stiles' friendship means to Scott, Lydia, and Malia," he said. "We're going to see why exactly he's Scott's best friend, what it means that he's Malia's human anchor, and what his will-they-or-won't-they relationship is with Lydia."
As for Stiles' friendship with Scott, which had become tumultuous in season 5, "Teen Wolf" star Posey said, "They're very in love with each other."
In a separate interview, Davis previewed the major changes Scott will be dealing with in "Teen Wolf" season 6. According to the "Teen Wolf" boss, in the new "more high school-focused" season, the main characters will be on the verge of graduation, which will be a huge deal for them.
According to Posey, a major plot point in season 6 is that of Scott potentially moving on and no longer being the protector of Beacon Hills. "...[T]hat's really weighing on him because he loves his town and he loves his friends and family but he knows he has to move on," he said.
"Teen Wolf" season 6 will debut this fall on MTV.
