'Supernatural' season 12 spoilers, plot news: Mary Winchester couldn't care less about her sons?

Jared Padalecki as Sam and Jensen Ackles as Dean in "Supernatural" | The CW

"Supernatural" season 12 will be the venue for a family reunion that fans did not even think would happen. Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) see their mother again, but it might not go the way fans imagined it.

During an interview with BuddyTV, executive producer Robert Singer hinted that Mary Winchester (Samantha Smith) will not be comfortable with her sons.

This is mainly because they are far older than her and she basically has not seen them in the last three decades because she was busy playing dead. Mary was killed in the pilot of "Supernatural" and Sam was just a baby that time.

Everything will be unfamiliar to Mary in "Supernatural" season 12, so she will turn her attention to the only thing she knows best, which is being a hunter.

However, Smith hinted in a separate interview with BuddyTV that she will warm up to her children eventually. "Once you're a mom, you're always a mom," Smith said.

One of the exciting things to look forward to is when her mother instincts kick in and she learns that Sam and Dean became the one thing she never wanted them to become – hunters like her.

Mary was resurrected by Amara (Emily Swallow) as her way to thank Sam and Dean for their help. The Winchester mom had the same nightgown she wore when she was murdered.

Smith does not know how many episodes of "Supernatural" season 12 she will appear in, but she said that she will be in a lot of them. She just does not know exactly how many.

There will be a lot going on for Sam and Dean in the new season especially with Lucifer wreaking havoc looking for a new body to take over (allowing rock icon Rick Springfield to enter the picture) as well the evil of the British Men of Letters.

"Supernatural" season 12 will premiere on Thursday, Oct.13 at 9 p.m. EDT on the CW.
