"Sherlock" season 4 will be full of emotion, according to Amanda Abbington, who plays the role of Mary Watson in the hit BBC drama.

During an interview with ComicBook.com at the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2016, the actress revealed that she shed tears just reading the scripts.

She did not go into detail about these emotional "Sherlock" season 4 scenes, but she assured that it won't be all drama as jokes will also be involved here and there.

"That's juxtaposed with humor, as it should be because all great should have comedy in it as well, because that's life," Abbington told the publication.

This is also what executive producers and writers Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat emphasized about "Sherlock" season 4 during the show's SDCC panel.

Although it is undoubtedly the darkest season of the series, Gatiss and Moffat underlined that there will still be humor as fans of "Sherlock" and the talented writers would expect of the show and their work.

Meanwhile, lead star Benedict Cumberbatch also shared an overview of "Sherlock" season 4 in a separate interview with ComicBook.com.

Although he admitted that it is "irritating" using "broad bracket terms" in talking about the show, he did try his best to enlighten fans on what the new season will be all about.

"It's very dark. It's the same strain of trademark humor, the relationships are strong and deep and really complexified by what goes on," Cumberbatch explained.

"It's fast, it's funny. It's got a lot of action, a lot of twists and turns. It's everything that Sherlock has been but evolved to a really exciting level," he continued.

"Sherlock" season 4 is expected to set the stage for the return of James Moriarty (Andrew Scott) and the idea of it ever happening sending Sherlock Holmes into the paranoia of keeping his loved ones out of his grasp.

"Sherlock" season 4 will premiere sometime next year on BBC. The cast and crew are almost done with the filming.
