'Rick and Morty' season 3 release date delay news: Did series creators push its premiere date further back?
It's been almost a year since the season 2 finale of "Rick and Morty" was televised, and now, fans are clamoring for news on when the third season of their beloved animation series would air following a recent Twitter post that seemed to hint of a delayed premiere.
When "Rick and Morty" season 2 aired its finale in October 2015, there were speculations that the third season wouldn't happen until 2017, especially after Mr. Poopy Butthole said a sequel may return "a year and half longer."
That left fans in a muddled mess, as they felt it was too far off. However, recent reports seemed to hint that the third season of "Rick and Morty" would air before yearend, and fans have been eagerly anticipating the announcement of the official date.
The fact that recording has commenced earlier than expected only served to fuel the fans' hope that season 3 would drop in before 2016 ends. However, a recent tweet posted by "Rick and Morty's" official Twitter account elicited mixed reactions from fans. Check out the tweet below:
Some fans assumed the tweet meant that episodes for "Rick and Morty" season 3 would be 30 minutes longer than before, bringing the total up to an hour's worth of episode. Nevertheless, majority of fans took it to mean that there would be a delay in premiere date.
Fans said the 30-minute delay was tantamount to 30 days, which could mean the series would air on July 30 instead of the purported July 26 release. While some fans expressed disappointment over the seeming delay, most fans felt that a four-day delay was better than the entire third season not happening at all.
Meanwhile, according to some reports, "Rick and Morty" season 3 will have 19 episodes, with the storyline focusing on multiverse instead of the usual time travel. There are even some speculations that when Adult Swin's animated series returns, it will include an Interdimensional Cable 3 and an evil Morty who will serve as the greatest villain to the odd duo.
Please stay tuned for more updates on "Rick and Morty" season 3.
