'Resident Evil: Biohazard' release date, news & update: Collector's Edition unveiled by Capcom; trailers tease old lady, new monster

Capcom has unveiled a "Resident Evil: Biohazard" Collector's Edition that, oddly, does not contain the game itself.

The Collector's Edition was leaked by GameStop Italy, which listed the edition among its new offerings. The retailer's listing indicates that the bundle costs €99.9 and includes a 16 GB USB stick in the shape of the dummy finger from the "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" demo, five Lithographs, a 20th anniversary art book, a model replica of the Baker family's derelict mansion in the video game, three alternate covers, and exclusive in-game downloadable content (DLC).

Strangely, to get the game itself, players will have to shell out a bit more and purchase the bundle plus the game at €150.96. PlayStation Universe notes that the "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" Collector's Edition looks like it will be exclusive to Europe, but the website does not discount the possibility that Capcom has a similar bundle planned for "Resident Evil" fans in North America.

But whether or not this transpires, GameStop already has a Deluxe Edition available for those in the U.S.

2016 marks the 20th anniversary of the "Resident Evil" series and to celebrate, Capcom has made "Resident Evil 4," "Resident Evil 5," and "Resident Evil 6" available to the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. The video game publisher is also said to be developing a remake of "Resident Evil 2."

Meanwhile, two new trailers for "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" were released earlier this month and they show off a creepy old lady and a new formidable monster.

"Shadow," the first trailer, reveals that the monster gamers will face can't be stopped by bullets. The second, "Aunt Rhody," features the scary old woman singing the "Resident Evil 7" theme.

Capcom has reportedly predicted "strong lifetime sales" of the upcoming "Resident Evil" installment. "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" comes out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on Jan. 24, 2017.
