'Prison Break' season 5 release date news: Season 6 already in place?
"Prison Break" season 5 has not even aired yet, but fans are already looking forward to a possible sixth season for the beloved drama series.
The writers of the highly-anticipated revival have been asked this question a lot of times on Twitter, but it appears that just like fans, they are still waiting for FOX to greenlight the project.
"If there's a call for another season, we'll be there," the writers replied to a fan who asked them if they are thinking of going beyond "Prison Break" season 5.
It seems that the writers are willing to do season 6 if they were given the consent. The possibility of this is, of course, how the limited series will do.
"Prison Break" season 5 will only have nine episodes, so it will surely be packed with action and drama. Fans already think that the revival is still too short and might lead them asking for more.
Wentworth Miller, who will be back as main character Michael Scofield, recognizes the desire of fans for more of "Prison Break," and he is willing to do more if there are engaging new stories to share.
"I think that this appreciation for this universe and these characters, I think that's there. Our audience has never really gone away. It feels very present tense, that appetite for the show and for another chapter," the actor told TVLine during the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2016.
"But it's about telling a good story well. If we can't come up with a great hook, a reason to be, then I don't think we should do it because the whole point of the reboot was to give the fans something else to enjoy," he added.
Fans are expected to flock the premiere of "Prison Break" season 5 as the show has not been on air for seven years. With regards to season 6, this is still up in the air.
"Prison Break" season 5 will premiere spring next year on FOX. Watch new footage from the limited series below.
