The two-part premiere episode of "Mr. Robot" season 2, which picked up a month after the massive fsociety hack, saw Elliot (Rami Malek) trying his hardest to stay off the internet, living in his mother's house, and time-stamping each of his activities in a bid to keep away from Mr. Robot (Christian Slater), his darker alter ego.

The season 2 debut also saw a shocking death, that of Elliot's former boss, Gideon (Michael Gill), who was shot in the neck by a random gunman. The character, who acted as an occasional father figure to Elliot, was assassinated for his apparent link to the so-called "5/9 Hack," which he actually had nothing to do with.

In a recent chat with The Hollywood Reporter, Malek spoke about how Gideon's death will affect Elliot going forward.

According to the "Mr. Robot" star, Elliot acknowledges that Gideon wouldn't have been killed if not for him and that his former employer's death is on his hands.

"There's a lot of guilt that will impact Elliot's progression, and that's due to what happens to Gideon in that first episode," he said. "...it's something that's deeply on Elliot's mind and heart."

In a previous interview, the actor spoke about the new season, saying that it is "darker."

"In a lot of respects, just dealing with that fallout is very dark," Malek told THR about the aftereffects of the fsociety hack. "When you see what happens to people, how they react in those circumstances, and when they're fighting to exist and fighting to march on with their plan to change things the way they envision them and hope they would be, people can get very dark."

Meanwhile, the "Mr. Robot" season 2 premiere episode featured a very interesting Easter egg that was caught by an eagle-eyed viewer.

In the season 2 opener, Elliot was seen trying to remain as analog as possible in an effort to clear his brain. This meant that he kept off the computer and was writing on a notebook instead. Nonetheless, the internet still managed to worm its way into the episode.

On Wednesday, July 13, "Mr. Robot" fan Dodai Stewart posted a photo she took while watching the season 2 premiere. In the image, she managed to capture a QR code that was scribbled in Elliot's notebook.

When Stewart scanned the code, it led to a website called ConficturaIndustries.com.

A Reddit user has even cleaned up the QR code and made a version that is easier to scan.

According to The Verge, the website may be from the same company that also made Elliot's notebook.

"Mr. Robot" season 2 airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on USA Network.
