'Jane the Virgin' season 3 spoilers: Showrunner drops bombs on Michael's fate, Xo's pregnancy and Jane's soon-to-be-nonexistent virginity

Season 2, Episode 22 | The CW

The CW is yet to announce an official airdate for "Jane the Virgin" season 3, but fans of the series would be happy to know that there's so much in store for them when it returns. Some of the steamy tidbits of the third season came from no less than showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman.

While viewers were treated to Jane (Gina Rodriguez) and Michael's (Brett Dier) wedding in season 2's finale, it didn't quite end the way they would have wanted. Instead of consummating their marriage, Jane had to deal with a bloody Michael, who was shot by his cop partner, who was actually the baddie.

Movie News Guide said with Michael's fate hanging in the balance, there is a sliver of chance that Rafael (Justin Baldoni), Jane's baby daddy, could come into the picture once again and take advantage of Jane's state. Whether Jane would develop feelings for Rafael or decide to stick to honor her marriage is one of the things viewers would have to look forward to.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Urman said fans would have to wait until the third season to find out whether Michael is dead or not. She did say season 3 would pick up very soon where season 2 left off, as in the same day.

Another thing fans could look forward to, according to Urman, is how Xo's (Andrea Navedo) pregnancy would pan out and how it would impact everyone else, especially since she's pregnant with the baby of her ex Rogelio's (Jaime Camil) arch nemesis, Esteban (Keller Wortham). Her pregnancy came as a shock to viewers because Xo and Rogelio parted ways after they disagreed on childbearing – Rogelio wanted children, Xo didn't.

Perhaps the biggest bomb Urman dropped concerns Jane's decision to shed her imaginary chastity belt in "Jane the Virgin" season 3. While talking to Entertainment Tonight, Urman confirmed that after two seasons of being, well, a virgin, the tides will turn for Jane.

"Yes, yes, yes – it's happening!" Urman told ET at the ATX TV Festival in Austin, Texas. "She'll lose her virginity this year for sure."

She also said it will happen neither in the season opener or season finale, saying she "just wanted to put that moment in the show, but not build to fireworks."

One thing she didn't delve on is to whom Jane would lose her virginity to.

Would it be Michael or would baby daddy Rafael stake his claim once more? Be sure to tune in when "Jane the Virgin" season 3 premieres this fall on The CW.
