'iZombie' season 3 spoilers, plot news: Ravi to undergo transformation in third season? Major and Liv solve crimes together?
Although official promo clips for the upcoming third season of The CW's "iZombie" are yet to be released, it looks like the major plotlines for the new season are well underway to completion.
There are speculations that Ravi Chakrabarti (Rahul Kohli) would undergo a transformation from caring medical examiner to a badass fighter. A posted photo on the actor's Twitter account that showed him engaged in grueling mixed martial arts (MMA) training session fueled the rumors, given that it was posted while he was in Vancouver filming "iZombie" season 3.
Apparently, Kohli's character would need to transition from his usual gentle self to a tough fighter so he can protect himself and the people he loves. Fans of the series know him as the kind medical examiner who supplies Liv Moore (Rose McIver) with the brains she needs to survive.
Shortly thereafter, though, Kohli once again took to Twitter, this time to dispel the rumors and say that the MMA training was personal and had nothing to do with season 3's plot.
Back in February, Kohli talked to TV Guide and said the showrunners were planning big things for his character.
"I was told, based on what they want to do with the rest of the show, that if we go into our third season we want to delve into a little bit of Ravi's stuff," he said. "So they may break that formula slightly. At the moment that's just a conversation, but there may be more Ravi come next year."
Meanwhile, it looks like the third season will see Major Lilywhite (Robert Buckley) fighting crimes alongside Liv and Detective Clive Babineaux (Malcolm Goodwin). This is after he acquired the uncanny ability to see visions from the brains that he eats. There is also a possibility that Liv and Major would finally get back together especially now that he is a zombie again.
"10 things we want from #iZombie season 3. 6 of these are certain. 3 are possible. Buckley in fat suit all season," Rob Thomas, the show's creator, tweeted. Nevertheless, he has been tight-lipped as far as which specific storylines will be tackled.
The CW is expected to air the premiere of "iZombie" season 3 during its midseason schedule.
