'Injustice 2' news: 'The lines are redrawn' in 'Injustice 2'
"Injustice: Gods Among Us" was a runaway hit when it came out. NetherRealm Studios and DC Comics might have invented the plotline to justify why superheroes were fighting each other, but the story was just too good that DC even decided to release a prequel comic series that detailed the events leading up to the game. "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" has also teased of a future not unlike the one seen in the game with Superman as a dictator.
"Injustice: Gods Among Us" is undoubtedly one of the most influential games set in the DC Universe, but now it's time for the follow up to shine. NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has recently released story trailer for "Injustice 2," and it hints that lines are about to get redrawn.
It's nice to see characters like Supergirl and Poison Ivy appear in the trailer. They were conspicuously missing in the first game.
The story trailer also gave fans a look at some of the events that preceded the first game, like the death of Lois Lane and the child she was carrying. That was the event that set everything in motion.
A fight between Batman and Damian Wayne/Robin was also shown in the trailer. This is probably a flashback because Damian has already assumed the mantle of Nightwing since Dick Grayson died. Damian has been part of Superman's team since the beginning, and father and son just don't see eye-to-eye. Anyway, players can use Damian as both Robin and Nightwing in the game.
The trailer didn't really reveal much about the game's storyline. Friends already became enemies in the first game, so it's not exactly the huge reveal that some people are making it out to be.
Will the opposing sides from the first game ally together to bring down Brainiac and The Society, or will this be an all-out war between heroes and villains?
"Injustice 2" is scheduled to come out on May 16.
