'Hawaii Five-0' season 7 episode 13 spoilers: Five-0 to say goodbye to a good friend

The brave men of Five-0 suit up for a special occasion in an older episode of “Hawaii Five-0”. Front, left to right: Chin (Daniel Dae Kim), Danny (Scott Caan), and Steve (Alex O’Loughlin). Back, left to right: Max (Masi Oka), and Lou (Chi McBride) | Facebook/HawaiiFive0CBS

The Five-0 Task Force bids farewell to an ohana in the next episode of CBS' popular police procedural series.

After staying with the team for seven seasons, actor Masi Oka will be exiting "Hawaii Five-0" along with his efficient and mild-mannered character, Max. But just because the chief medical examiner is moving away, doesn't mean evil will be taking a holiday. In the upcoming episode titled "Ua ho'i ka 'ōpua i Awalua (The Clouds Always Return to Alawua)," Steve and his team will be investigating a murder at a police convention while trying to come to terms with Max's impending departure.

In the previous episode of "Hawaii Five-0," Max had some reservations about letting Five-0 know that he was leaving. He began looking for a suitable replacement with the excuse that he was feeling understaffed, and he placed his current apartment up for lease under the pretense of wanting to upgrade to a much bigger place that is more fit for a family.

"Hawaii is the only home I've ever known," he told Steve when he was found out, further adding that he was worried his decision might upset the team. Five-0's lieutenant commander told him he'd always known they were going to have this conversation sooner or later and that he was proud of Max for making such a monumental decision and sticking by it.

The promo for the episode shares a peek into Max's farewell soiree, which will be highlighted by a heart touching and potentially tear-jerking farewell speech. He would be leaving for Africa with his wife, after his brief stint with Doctors Without Borders inspired him to provide his selfless services where it was most needed.

But his departure does not mean that the show's doors will be closing on his character's possible return. In an interview with The Post, Oka shared that Max will still be available for assistance via e-mail and that his communication with the team will not be completely cut. Will he still keep up with his annual tradition of dressing up as a Keanu Reeves' movie character on Halloween? Only time will tell.

The next episode of "Hawaii Five-0" will also feature Frank Bama (Jimmy Buffett), a helicopter pilot who has assisted Five-0 on some very crucial rescue missions. There is no news on whether Rumer Willis, who played Max's wife, Sabrina, will be making a guest appearance.

Dr. Max Bergman's swan song airs on Friday, Jan. 13, at 9 p.m. EST on CBS.
