'GTA 5 Online' DLC news: Import/Export rumored to be last DLC as Rockstar slows down release of updates

"Grand Theft Auto" ("GTA") fans have been tempering their disappointment with the delay of "Grand Theft Auto 6" with constant game updates for "GTA 5 Online." However, the latest reports suggest that Rockstar Games is planning to slow down when it comes to downloadable content (DLC) for the online multiplayer game, which would leave players with no new major "GTA" content for the foreseeable future.

According to a recent blog post from "GTA" insider Yan2295, a lot of players are eagerly anticipating the next update that will follow the Import/Export DLC that was released last December; but in reality, it's quite likely that Import/Export will the last content update for "GTA Online."

"Basically, according to what I heard, GTA Online updates are going to slow down this year, to then stop around the time RDR2 [Red Dead Redemption 2] will release," the tipster relayed.

This revelation has come as a shock to many as they thought that Rockstar would continue to support the game as it has been a major cash cow for the game developer. Apparently, despite the revenue it brings, those involved in the game's development are already running out of ideas. This is understandable since "GTA Online" is more than three years old already.

Nevertheless, Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two Interactive, still intends to milk "GTA Online" for as long as it can. This would mean that there will still be updates for the online multiplayer game but in smaller and less expansive doses.

"They're out of ideas and of resources at this point. So what happens when the devs are out of ideas and resources, but they are forced to make more updates? They will come up with smaller and less creative updates, maybe re-using content from previous updates and them in a different way," Yan2295 added.

Furthermore, it was also noted that people from Rockstar North, the division in charge of "GTA," have been redistributed to help Rockstar San Diego with the development of "Red Dead Redemption 2" while other developers have started working on "GTA 6." This leaves only a few people to work on "GTA Online."
