'Girl Meets World' season 3 spoilers, season 4 renewal news: Disney has yet to renew series; Rowan Blanchard hints at cancellation?
A fourth season for "Girl Meets World" is still up in the air, and the cast members themselves appear to be unsure of the fate of the series after season 3.
During the final day of filming for the current season, star Rowan Blanchard — who plays the role of Riley in the series — revealed on Twitter that "Girl Meets World" season 4 is yet to be made official. She said that it was an emotional day for the shoot of the final episode and went on to thank the support of fans and sent some love to the "Girl Meets World" cast and crew.
"So thank you to all of you who came and stuck with us. The family that we have created on our set is something I will never truly forget," Blanchard tweeted.
The star made it seem like "Girl Meets World" season 4 will not happen. She even said in reply to a fan that they "haven't heard anything yet" about a renewal.
However, many fans are confident that "Girl Meets World" season 4 is going to happen, taking into consideration that Disney Channel usually gives its shows four-year runs. In the midst of rumors about cancellation, a representative of Disney Channel told TVLine that formal conversations about a renewal are yet to take place.
"With episodes airing on Disney Channel into 2017, there's no news to share yet about a fourth season," the rep said. "Girl Meets World" season 3 is said to have 21 episodes, and it is expected to end next year.
With that said, it appears that the Disney Channel has yet to talk about a "Girl Meets World" season 4 renewal. Then again, it might be too early for that since the current season is only halfway through.
Fans are hoping that Riley and the gang will be back for another year. Some even want the show moved to Freeform so the show can tackle issues outside those that it can cover on Disney Channel.
For now, fans should check out the next "Girl Meets World" season 3 episode titled "Girl Meets the Real World," where Riley tries to figure out whether people are good or evil by nature.
"Girl Meets World" season 3, episode 11 airs Friday, Aug. 19 at 7:30 p.m. EDT on the Disney Channel.
