'Chicago Fire' season 5 episode 11 spoilers: Tough choices are made in 'Who Lives and Who Dies'

Everybody's emotional resilience is put to the test in the next episode of "Chicago Fire."

After giving their foster son, Louie (Aiden/Austin Cohen), up to the boy's real father in the previous episode, Gabby (Monica Raymund) and Casey (Jesse Spencer) are faced with more challenges on the field as they try to go about their work as normally as they possibly can. But an ambo run involving a pregnant teen will stir Gabby's emotions in ways that may become too much for her to handle.

Elsewhere, her husband, Casey, will find himself in a situation that forces him to decide on the fate of two fire victims who are simultaneously in need of life-saving assistance in the episode aptly titled "Who Lives and Who Dies." Will he make the right decision under pressure, and what repercussions will he have to deal with in the aftermath of the event? Will these repercussions be legal, emotional, spiritual, or a fair mix of all and more?

Meanwhile, after his heroic feat of donating his bone marrow without anesthesia, Severide (Taylor Kinney) may have ultimately sealed a fated bond with Anna (Charlotte Sullivan), the recipient of his bone marrow, and he may also have gotten a chance to work on strengthening said bond as he accompanies the vibrant woman through her recovery.

The trailer for the next episode, however, presents Severide with a dilemma of his own when his feelings for Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo) gets stirred anew when he begins to acknowledge the support his old flame and now most trusted confidante has been giving him. Will Severide be forced to choose between a woman with whom he shares a seemingly destined connection, or with the woman who has always been and still is always there for him when the going gets tough?

The situation may well divide fans of the show into two factions, with fans hoping for the Severide–Stella love angle to be rekindled, while others believe that Anna to be a much better choice for Severide at this point, because her sunny disposition in life can better challenge the guy to look at his own life differently. Whereas, he and Stella have proven that they really are much better off staying friends.
