The long-awaited second season of the anime series "Attack on Titan," also known for its Japanese name "Shingeki No Kyojin," is set to be released in the spring of 2017. As the premiere gets closer and closer, spoilers and speculations about the season's storyline are popping out left and right.

According to a report by The Asahi Shimbun, the second season seems to delve into mysteries that remain unsolved from the previous season. The focus of the anime series' new season will be Eren. His journey to becoming a Titan will be explored in this upcoming season, Movie News Guide reported.

"Attack on Titan" season 2 will feature Eren fighting a Colossus Titan. His transformation was never featured in "Attack on Titan" season 1, but this time, the audience might see him transform for all the right reasons. The character of Eren is known to be the careless one among the rest of the team, and despite his good intentions, he somehow ends up putting his companions in danger.

"Attack on Titan" season 2 is based on the manga chapters "Clash of the Titans" and "Uprising." However, it will reportedly be the last season to be based on the manga.

The first episode of the upcoming installment of the anime series will reportedly be titled "Basement." In the episode, Chief Erwin will die due to serious injuries he suffered from battle. The death of Erwin will create an unaccompanied team of Armin, Eren, Levi, Sasha, Hanji, and Mikasa in future battles with the Titans. Hanji will be named as the new corps leader but still, Erwin's death will be a big loss, making things difficult for the team.

Season 2 will pick up from where season 1 left off. However, fans can expect to have a big shift in the story throughout the season.
