Apple Watch 2 release date, news, rumors: Apple wearable to rival Samsung Gear S3 this year?
There are no confirmed details yet regarding the next iteration of the Apple Watch. Nevertheless, the rumors are rife that the Cupertino-based tech giant's latest wearable device will arrive this year, possibly coinciding with the release of the company's other big device offerings for 2016. If the Apple Watch 2 will be released later this year, it is also expected to be pitted against Samsung's upcoming smartwatch, the Gear S3.
As reported by Value Walk, there is no official announcement yet from Apple about the release of Apple Watch 2. There were tech enthusiasts and spectators who thought that the latest Apple smartwatch would appear in the recently concluded Worldwide Developers' Conference (WWDC) 2016, or at least give some updates regarding the much-anticipated smartwatch. However, many became disappointed as the Apple Watch 2 was not mentioned. In spite of this, many are hoping that Apple's next big event will finally unveil the new Apple Watch.
According to the online publication, the upcoming event of Apple will happen on September 7. This will probably be the date when the Apple Watch 2 will be revealed to the public. Aside from the new smartwatch, the company will also unveil the new iPhone 7 smartphones and iPad Pro 2. However, the Apple Watch 2 is expected to come a few days after the anticipated release of Samsung Gear S3. The South Korean tech giant's latest wearable is reported to arrive on Aug. 31.
Apple is expected to put up a good fight when the Apple Watch 2 and Samsung Gear S3 clashes in the coming weeks, especially that the Apple Watch 2 will feature any upgrades from its predecessor. Mac Rumors reported that the Apple Watch 2 will boast 334 mAh lithium-ion battery, as posted on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo. This would also support the speculations from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, saying that the Apple Watch 2 will have a larger battery when it arrives this Fall. MacRumors also added that if the 334 mAh battery is already confirmed for the Apple Watch 2, the users can expect a 35.7 percent boost in battery capacity for its 42mm Apple Watch variant. To note, the 42mm Apple Watch model only has a 246 mAh battery.
