"Destiny 2" is still a year away, but it looks like fans can expect more from Bungie as the wait goes on. The team recently shared on their final blog update for the year what they are preparing for fans.

"We'll get back to business as usual once the eggnog leaves our blood. Until we talk again, work will continue at Bungie. It always does. Destiny is never finished. We have playtests of new content to share with each other," they wrote.

The team was of course referring to "The Dawning" holiday event, which will run for three weeks and bring back the popular Sparrow racing, which was first introduced last year.

It will make a return this week and is in fact the main attraction of the "Destiny" holiday event. Bungie will offer new gear, new and old exotic weapons, and a new scored cooperative mode for Destiny's three-player Strike missions.

Apart from "The Dawning," Bungie community manager David Dague told Digital Trends that they are also looking to add new events in "Destiny."

However, he admitted that they have not plotted the future for such just yet although the live team does not rest on their laurels and "always has interesting ideas."

Dague added that when it comes to "Destiny" events, they want to make sure that they fit into the world of the game while also giving players something new to try.

Either way, fans can look forward to more things "Destiny" in the coming year, as the Bungie team promised on their blog.

"Thanks for playing our games, Guardians. We'll have more to show you next year. But that's a conversation for another time. For now, let it snow," they went on to say.

For now, fans should check out the "Destiny: The Dawning" event, which will run up to Jan. 3. The months after that, new information on the sequel, "Destiny 2," should arrive.
