It looks like the Brooklyn Nets will have to do longer without Jeremy Lin as he continues his recovery from his hamstring injuries.

The latest update from head coach Kenny Atkinson given to Owen O'Brien of Newsday suggests that the point guard will be sidelined longer than they anticipated.

"Nets coach Kenny Atkinson still waiting on doctor reports on Jeremy Lin's strained left hamstring," O'Brien said, adding that with regard to the timetable for his return, the coach answered with "We'll see."

"I think our roster development at the end of the day, those guys will improve over this time (Lin's) out," O'Brien quotes Atkinson as saying in another tweet.

O'Brien concluded that Lin's return might take a while. "Reading between the lines, Kenny Atkinson did not sound very optimistic about Jeremy Lin's status. But he's still waiting on doctors," he tweeted.

He also shared a photo of Lin in the gym. While he was there, it turns out that the 28-year-old did not work out, which suggests yet again he is not ready for his much-awaited comeback.

Lin missed 17 games since he incurred an issue with his left hamstring back in Nov. 2. He returned Dec. 12, enabling himself to play seven of the eight games.

For now, with no concrete information as to when Lin's absence will end, Atkinson said that they will "figure it out."

Without Lin, the likes of Isaiah Whitehead, Randy Foye, Sean Kilpatrick and Spencer Dinwiddie will have to step up, which is what they did, something that Atkinson sees as the positive in all of this trouble.

"We're going to figure it out by committee and it will be good for those guys' development. I think our roster development at the end of the day, those guys will improve over this time Jeremy's out," the Nets coach explained to O'Brien.
