Conor McGregor next fight news: UFC's Dana White reiterates that McGregor will be out for the next 10 months

Earlier this month, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White told the press that newly crowned UFC lightweight champion, Conor McGregor, was taking 10 months off. That could have been the end of the story, but a couple of weeks later McGregor denied that he talked to White about taking time off. What's going on?

During an impromptu press conference earlier this week (via the Daily Star), White was asked about the situation with the lightweight champion and he reiterated that McGregor was going to be out for the next 10 months.

"The last conversation that Conor and I had, he said was taking ten months off. Everybody keeps talking about, but I'm not even thinking about Conor. Conor is not in my plans for the next ten months at all. Listen, we have run a business where we make fights. I know who's available and I know who's not available," he stated.

He said McGregor told him that he wouldn't be available for the next 10 months because his girlfriend, Dee Devlin, was expecting a baby. White disclosed that McGregor told him he doesn't want to fight while his girlfriend was pregnant because she stresses out whenever he's in the octagon, and he doesn't want to put her through that.

White went on to say that he doesn't have a problem with McGregor taking some time off. "I love it, I respect it and I get it," he said.

Meanwhile, the UFC might have allowed Ronda Rousey to skip her media obligations in the lead-up to her fight with UFC women's bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 207, but White said the rest of the roster shouldn't expect the same treatment and this was only a one-time thing.

When asked if McGregor would complain about the special treatment Rousey was getting, White had a short and simple answer. "Wouldn't that be something, if Conor was complaining about the treatment of another fighter," he retorted (via MMA Mania).

Well, the UFC has given McGregor special treatment a lot of times before due to the fact that he's their biggest cash cow, so he can't really say that the company has been taking him for granted.
