The Islamic State terrorist group has released a video purportedly showing imprisoned British journalist Jon Cantlie saying he will be delivering a series of "programs" to reveal "facts" about the Islamic State.

Cantlie, who was kidnapped by the militant group back in 2012, appears to be in good health as he speaks to the camera in the three-minute video. Cantlie is wearing an orange jumpsuit suit similar to the one worn by former Islamic State hostages James Foley and Steven Sotloff before they were beheaded by the terrorist organization.

Cantlie says in the video that he will "convey some facts" about the Islamic State that counter facts shared by western media.

"Now, I know what you're thinking. You're thinking, 'He's only doing this because he's a prisoner. He's got a gun at his head and he's being forced to do this.' Right?" Cantlie says.

"Well, it's true. I am a prisoner. That I cannot deny. But seeing as I've been abandoned by my government and my fate now lies in the hands of the Islamic State, I have nothing to lose," the hostage continued in the video, entitled "Lend Me Your Ears, Messages from the British Detainee John Cantlie."

"After two disastrous and hugely unpopular wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, why is it that our governments appear so keen to get involved in yet another unwinnable conflict?" Cantlie continues.

"I'm going to show you the truth behind the systems and motivation of the Islamic State, and how the Western media, the very organization I used to work for, can twist and manipulate that truth for the public back home."

Last week, president Barack Obama announced the U.S. would be carrying out airstrikes in Iraq and Syria to destroy the Islamic State. This week, the U.S. House of Representatives agreed to train and arm Syrian rebels to fight the Islamic State.
