Bryan Cranston In Emmy Speech: 'God Bless You'
In a rare move in Hollywood, actor Bryan Cranston referenced God while receiving his award for best lead actor in a drama series at the 66th annual Emmy Awards on Monday in Los Angeles, California.
Upon receiving his fourth lead actor in a drama series award, Cranston took the stage and offered a heartfelt and gracious acceptance speech to his family and fellow cast members on the hit AMC drama "Breaking Bad," on which Cranston played a terminally-ill teacher-turned-meth cook living in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
"I don't know why I have been blessed with an abundance of good fortune in my life," Cranston said. "I did happen to stumble upon finding a passion that created a seed and bloomed into something so wonderful for me. I love to act and it is a passion of mine, and I will do it until my last breath."
The 58-year-old went on to explain his nickname when he was little, "Sneaky Pete," saying he was always being mischevious.
"I'd like to dedicate this award to all the 'Sneaky Petes' of the world who thought that maybe settling for mediocrity was a good idea because it was safe," Cranston said. "Don't do it. take a chance. Take risk. Find that passion, rekindle it. It's really worth it. God bless you."
Cranston's drama show won big at Monday night's award ceremony, taking home five Emmy awards total, including two awards for outstanding drama, an award for best lead actor, an award for best supporting actress and an award for best supporting actor.
