Best Movies March 2015: 5 Must-See Films - 'Chappie,' 'Robot Overlords,' 'The Gunman,' 'Hyena' and 'Unfinished Business'

As March 2015 kicks off, let's take a look at five of the must-see movies coming up. Two films are about robots – one good and the other bad (the robots, not the film). One movie is about an ex-soldier, another about a corrupt cop, and, last but not the least, a dramedy about a business trip gone way, way wrong.

1. "Chappie"

This movie is set in the near future when a mechanized police force patrols the street of Johannesburg. Dev Patel is a robotics genius who creates a robot, Chappie, who can think and feel for himself. Hugh Jackman plays a former soldier who believes playing God is a dangerous game so he does everything he could do to bring Chappie down. Chappie is gifted, special, a prodigy and he will come under the influence of his environment – both good and bad—he will have to rely on his heart and soul to find his way in the world and become his own man. Directed by Neil Blomkamp, "Chappie" will be released in the U.S. and U.K. on March 6, 2015.

2. "Robot Overlords"

This film is set in the not-so distant future in an unnamed British seaside town three years after a menacing army of robots has established a strict, worldwide curfew. Everyone has a tracking device in his or her head so that the robots know if someone tries to venture outside. The film revolves around a group of teenagers who form a resistance and begin the fight to take the planet back. Gillian Anderson and Ben Kingsley star as adults on either side of the conflict. Directed by Jon Wright, "Robot Overlords" will be released in the U.K. on March 27, 2015.

3. "The Gunman"

This movie is an American action thriller based on the novel "The Prone Gunman" by Jean-Patrick Manchette. It stars Sean Penn as a former Special Forces soldier (Martin Terrier) who has post-traumatic stress disorder and wants out of the game so he can reconnect with his long-time lover, but he has to go around Europe first to clear his name. It also stars Idris Elba, Javier Bardem, Ray Winstone and Mark Rylance. Directed by Pierre Morel, "The Gunman" will be released in the U.S. on March 20, 2015.

4. "Hyena"

This is a 2014 British film described as a police corruption thriller. Peter Ferdinando delivers a powerful performance as Michael Logan, a corrupt cop whose dirty dealings with a group of ruthless Albanian gangsters sends his life spiralling out of control. Writer-director Gerard Johnson maintains a stomach-churning sense of suspense throughout, Stephen Graham and Neil Maskell lend intense support. The film was the opener at the 2014 Edinburgh Film Festival and later shown in the Toronto International Film Festival. It will be released in the U.K. on March 6 and May 1 in the U.S.

5. "Unfinished Business"

This is an American "dramedy" that stars Vince Vaughn, Tom Wilkinson, Dave Franco, Sienna Miller and June Diane Raphael. It follows a hardworking small-business owner (Vaughn) and his two associates (Wilkinson and Franco) who travel to Europe to close the most important deal of their lives. The supposedly normal trip turns upside down with sex, drugs, and alcohol getting in the way. Directed by Ken Scott, "Unfinished Business" will be released in the U.S. and U.K. on March 5, 2015.
