Sarah Palin Daughter Bristol Palin to Marry Soldier Dakota Meyer Who Saved 39 in 2009 Afghan Attack
Bristol Palin, the 24-year-old daughter of former U.S. vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, recently revealed that she was engaged to Medal of Honor recipient and U.S. Army Sergeant Dakota Meyer, 26. She made the announcement on her blog and included a photo of them and her six-year-old son Tripp, who was fathered by her previous boyfriend and one-time fiancé Levi Johnston.
Meyer received the Medal of Honor in 2011 after he saved 39 people in his training team when they came under attack in Afghanistan in 2009.
Bristol took to her blog on Patheos to announce her engagement, praising Meyer for being "wonderful" to her son, saying she looks forward to her forthcoming marriage.
Bristol said her engagement took place during a Rascal Flatts concert at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Before it happened, the lead singer of the band, Gary LeVox, dedicated a rendition of "Bless the Broken Road" to the couple. Shortly after, Meyer made the marriage proposal. Bristol then stated how "it's amazing when you place everything in life in God's hands, because His plans are so much greater than our own."
After accepting Meyer's proposal, Bristol posted a photo of her huge engagement ring on Instagram and her blog. She also provided more information about how they first met in Alaska when Meyer participated in the filming of "Amazing America" along with her mother Sarah. Since then, the couple has been meeting frequently. She had also visited his family in Kentucky.
Meyer also commented on his engagement to Bristol on his Facebook page, saying he is looking forwarded to "spending the rest of my life with her and Tripp."
He added: "For the first time in a long time I can honestly say the best is yet to come!"
