Well-known Christian relationship counselor Dr. Gary Smalley has died at the age of 75, his family announced on social media.

On Mar. 5, Dr. Gary Smalley finally "graduated to heaven" surrounded by his family and beloved wife Norma. The late Christian relationship expert was known for addressing various issues such as marriage, family, and sexuality, according to the Christian Examiner (CE).

"It is with heavy hearts that we announce Dr. Gary Smalley, at age 75, graduated to heaven last night. This beautiful transition came to an end as these words were spoke over him," Smalley's family announced on Facebook. "'The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you' (Numbers 6:24-25)."

Gary Smalley co-authored the book titled "The Language of Love," and 60 other books about relationships. He also spoke about his powerful experiences during the years when he had a heart attack and underwent a kidney transplant.

Dr. Smalley also wrote several films and videos, which sold over 12 million copies, The Christian Broadcasting Network adds.

Meanwhile, the Smalley family thanked the people who have showed their love and support at this time.

In an interview with CE, Albany-based Pastor Michael Catt said Smalley's ministry has touched countless families. He said the late speaker had a God-given gift of conveying the truth in a manner that touched a lot of people's lives, the report relays.

Focus on the Family president Jim Daley said Smalley was able to help a lot of couples through his books and talks. He also appreciated the Christian counselor's grace and wit in both his personal and professional life. For Daley, Smalley's sense of humor helped made their daily radio broadcast a lot lighter.

Smalley's son Greg said he appreciated his father's humility and transparency. For him, his dad's ability to own up to his mistakes had made him grow as Christ-centered husband and father.

Dr. Gary Smalley leaves behind his wife Norma, their daughter Kari, two sons Michael and Greg, and seven grandchildren.
